I began my teaching career as a volunteer and substitute teacher in Brookline, MA, before becoming an Instructional Technology Specialist in the Malden, MA public schools. I have also worked at several summer camps in the New England area teaching Lego Mindstorms(tm) Robotics, blogging, animation, and digital video capture and editing techniques. At the Boston Museum of Science, I developed courses and instructed children ages 6-15 in computer technologies, including digital imaging, animation, and graphic design, while exploring scientific subject areas such as Dinosaurs and Architecture.
Throughout my career, I have tried to use the best practices of online collaboration, connected learning, and constructivist educational technology approaches I encourage students to create their own knowledge using technology tools.
My main focus is on integrating technology into classroom curriculum in order to help students and teachers create, investigate, connect and learn via digital environments. I am always learning, listening and looking for new avenues to engage students through interactions with technology that address the 3C’s of 21’st century skills:
- Creativity and innovation
- Critical Thinking and Problem Solving
- Communication and Collaboration
