The following email regarding Internet Filtering in Burlington was sent to all teachers and Staff from Patrick Larkin today.
Please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions or need assistance with blocked websites. Thank you, Mr. Donoff.
“The IT team has adjusted the network filters for all Burlington users. SafeSearch has been enabled. This setting protects users from finding inappropriate content online. These changes are being made to comply with Internet safety rules and regulations that change often and are beyond our control.
These settings may block some content that you had previously been able to access. This most often may include some YouTube content. YouTube videos that are blocked via SafeSearch can still be downloaded and saved for teacher use by using online video retrieval sites. Please see your building Instructional Technology Specialist for support with this process.
The IT team is currently testing the filters and looking at options for further adjusting the settings to better accommodate the needs of teachers and students. We will update everyone as soon as we have more information and are sorry for any inconvenience this caused over the last couple of days.” Patrick Larkin, Assistant Superintendent, Burlington Public Schools
